Winter 2008
To start the year off I attended an AIGA design conference representing designers of the ski and snowboarding industry. Many aspects were adressed from the current design trends to overall fiscal forcasts. It was interesting to learn about how this small niche market makes it happen. Strong design and edgy trends appeals to the up and coming generation of snowboarders and skiers alike. Often it the role of the designers to predict next years trends in design in order to stand out at the annual SIA Las Vegas hoop-la.

Summer 2007
The summer launched off with the International Sub Race 2007 which was held in Carder Rock, MD. As the project manager I wore several hats from promoter to photographer. The heat and humidity was yet another adjustment as was the indoor lighting conditions. The winning exterior design went to Mark Rabago of Everett, Washinton. Our gratitude goes out to Main Media and Special interest of Everett for their support and supplies to the project.

Spring 2007
This is the final quarter of my design education, at least in the formal sense.  The learning will not end to be sure and the acquiring of design books will only proliferate.

Winter 2007
it's the start of a new year and new possibilities. We are well on our way to Maryland to the 9th Annual International Sub Race. We changed up to meet a new challenge by proposing a design competition. The winning designer will have the opportunity to travel with the team to Maryland.  We have Main Media and Special Interest of Everett to thank again this year for providing the materials for the redesign.

Summer 2006
We made it back to the Northwest from Escondido, California placing 5th and completing the time trials with success. The Human Powered Submarine (HPS) team faced engineering challenges both in and out of the water with determination. Thus giving them the edge they needed to successfully finish the time trials.

As for our Visual Communications team we took hundreds of pictures and filmed 9 hours of video. To all of us the greatest challenge was beating the heat with one day reaching 115˚. We were all proud of the achievements and strides we made to make this happen.

Spring 2006
Currently, our Visual Communications club is collaborating with the Engineering club in an international Submarine Race. It will be held in San Diego, CA July 19-23, 2006. Last year they placed 4th and have teamed up with us to create an exterior design.

As our Club Chairperson I have located a paint shop, Special Interest and a vinyl graphics business, Main Media here in town to donate their supplies to this project. We have decided on a design that a fellow design student produced. Our thanks go out to them in helping us create a sleek and professional look to the submarine's exterior.

We are excited to be a part of this collaboration and look forward to seeing how, along with design and engineering what kind of presence our team will make this July.
